Tayside Flow Technologies Limited (TFT) is pleased to announce that its ePTFE Spiral Laminar Flow AV Access Graft was awarded a CE mark on 5th of May 2010. The AV graft represents a step forward from traditional ePTFE AV Access grafts used in haemodialysis. TFT's unique Spiral Laminar Flow technology restores natural bloodflow that will benefit patients through enhanced patency and therefore reduced reoperation rates. The four main advantages of the Spiral Laminar Flow AV Access Graft over existing technology are- 1- Introduces normal arterial flow into the venous system just like a native AV fistula. 2- Maintains normal flow pattern during the dialysis session. 3- Prevents turbulent flow from entering the venous system. 4- Lowers the turbulent energy and wall shear stress from the arterial flow stream David Lawrence, CEO, commented "this is great news for the company, surgeons and patients. There is a clear need for improved treatment and this new graft will bring benefits to surgeons and patients in Europe and beyond. Dialysis treatment is rising with the increase in diseases such as diabetes and in turn this is being driving by demographics including the ageing population as well as obesity."
